Take the turning to York off the A64, signposted to Hull and the A1079.This is the last exit so don’t panic! Take the left hand lane to York City Centre.Follow the main road then right into York. You will arrive at the City walls, at a set of traffic lights and a T-junction. Get in the right hand lane.
(a) With the walls on your left hand side follow that road –places to watch out for will be Waitrose, Homebase, Morrison’s, Kwik Fit, Staples, Majestic Wines. The walls then disappear and the canal is on the left hand side.You will come to a large set of traffic lights and you need to be in the centre lane – signposted to Scarborough. (don’t panic!). Go straight ahead. You are now in a one-way system. The City walls will once again be on your left.
You will pass Sainsbury’s supermarket and car park and the Hotel is about 500 yards on the right hand side. The car park is directly before the hotel.
Come into York and follow the signs for the City Centre. At the first large crossroads with traffic lights, take the left hand lane signed to the East Coast and Clifton. Follow that road over the railway and across the river up to a T-junction. Take the right hand lane. Follow the road right down Bootham to another T-junction. Take the left hand turn into Gillygate.
(b) Follow that road to another set of traffic lights and take the right hand lane onto Lord Mayor’s Walk and follow that road down to the traffic lights.
The Hotel is then directly in front of you but in order to reach the car park you have to go round the one-way system. Turn left and then right at the mini roundabout, staying in the right hand lane past Go Outdoors and Sainsburys. On the sharp bend take the slip road on the right which is signposted inner ring road. Here you will continue on the one way system the City walls will be on the left. The Hotel is about 500 yards away on your right hand side with the car park directly before the hotel.
Follow the directions for York City Centre and you will come to Clifton. Follow the main road until you reach a T-junction with traffic lights. Turn left into Gillygate and then follow the directions as above from the A59. (b)
York has direct links to so many parts of the country, travelling by train is an ideal alternative to the car. The station is a 15 minute walk to the hotel or there is a taxi rank out the front.

York is an ideal city to tour round on your bike, there are miles of cycle tracks in and out of the city all with views that you wont find anywhere else in the world. The hotel has a number of covered racks to store your bike with the added security of CCTV.
