BEST WESTERN Monkbar Hotel Guests Wake Up, Smell & Enjoy The Coffee! Guests at a York hotel are being encouraged to not only wake up and smell the coffee, but quaff its unique flavour too! For the beverage being served up by the cup and cafetier at the BEST WESTERN Monkbar Hotel, is a blend specially created for the award-winning venue by Laurence Beardmore, of the York Coffee Emporium. The Monkbar Emporium Blend has now replaced the “household” brand served for the last 21 years, and is already proving to be a recipe for success with guests, visitors and staff alike.
York’s BEST WESTERN Monkbar Hotel has become the first in the city to win a prestigious national award for its ongoing environmental work. The 99-bedroom venue has been presented with the Green Business Tourism Scheme’s gold award – the highest possible accolade given by the organisation which promotes sustainability in the leisure and hospitality sector.
Monkbar Hotel Staff Dive to raise £1,250 for charity Two members of staff at York’s BEST WESTERN Monkbar Hotel have reached dizzying heights to fundraise for a local children’s hospice. The two - Head Receptionist Liana Marsh and Revenue Manager Lynn Sathyan - took part in a tandem skydive in aid of Martin House Hospice for Children. The adrenalin-filled challenge, which took place above the skies of Bridlington, was a real test for the pair and helped raise £1,250 for the charity. Graham Usher, General Manager of The BEST WESTERN Monkbar Hotel, said: “We’re really proud of Liana and Lynn’s bravery in completing this deed for charity! They have raised a sizeable amount for this worthwhile cause, which included a donation from the BEST WESTERN Community Trust.” Lynn said: “Martin House Hospice is a superb charity and the hotel has supported it for five years now. We are happy to have been able to raise a good sum of money that will go a long way in continuing the invaluable work it does.” Over the past five years, the BEST WESTERN Monkbar Hotel has raised more than £30,000 for Martin House, which is located at Boston Spa near Wetherby. Martin House Hospice requires £4.6m each year to function and this is sourced almost entirely from donations.
